According to the research Milkaid, cheese is the top food missed by almost half (42%) with a lactose intolerance, followed by cream (36%), milky drinks (35%), ice cream (33%) and then of course chocolate (32%).
Lactose intolerance – What does it mean
Lactose intolerance is still a very misunderstood condition with people suffering in silence because, although there is no cure, they do not know the possible dietary solutions.
Lactose intolerance – Help
The Milkaid range of products contain lactase enzyme, a safe natural enzyme that is usually found in the digestive system, which works by breaking down the complex milk sugar lactose, into two more easily digestible sugars – meaning you can enjoy milk and dairy foods again without upset.
Lactose Intolerance – Advice
Milkaid have partnered with nutritionist Jenna Hope to delve deep into the findings. “Lactose intolerance is often confused with a lactose allergy. However, those with a lactose intolerance do not necessarily have to avoid dairy or lactose containing foods entirely as they tolerate a certain amount of lactose. Furthermore, lactase enzyme supplements such as Milkaid can further support the breakdown of lactose in the body. This can help to aid digestion, reduce symptoms associated with a lactose intolerance and most importantly allow people to enjoy their favourite foods this festive season without the worry!”
